week 3 Bible Study(2012 Winter )

Week 3 Bible Study
January 24th – January 27th

Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:4-7

4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 7 Now to each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

Teaching Point:
All of us are given different gifts and blessings by God. How should we use them? The Bible teaches us that we should use our abilities in order to build up our communities in a positive way. How do you use your gifts?

Better Understanding through Drama (Stone Soup)
(Note: Stone soup is simply stones cooked in hot water. )

Poor Person: I have nothing to eat! I will have to make stone soup for dinner.
Neighbor 1: Hey Poor person, what are you making?
Poor Person: Stone soup. It’s really good, but it needs more flavor!
Neighbor 1: Well, I have some extra carrots, do you want them?
Poor person: Sure, throw them in!
Neighbor 2: Hey, what are you two guys making?
PP & N1: Stone soup! It’s really good, but it needs more flavor.
Neighbor 2: Well, I have some leftover chicken. Do you want it?
PP & N1: Sure, throw it in!
Neighbor 3: Hey, what are you three guys making?
PP, N1, N2: Stone soup. It’s really good, but it needs more flavor!
N3: Well, I have some potatoes. Do you want them?
PP, N1, N2: Sure, throw them in!
PP: Hey everybody, what were you going to make for dinner tonight?
N1: Well, I`m very poor, so I was only going to eat those carrots.
N2: Well, I`m also very poor, so I was only going to eat that leftover chicken.
N3: Well, I`m also very poor, so I was only going to eat those potatoes.
PP: Wow, when we share what we have, we`re not so poor anymore, are we!
Everybody: Let’s always make stone soup!
